Welcome to Thomas Arnold Primary School!

We are very proud of our school and are sure you will soon feel a similar sense of pride. We aim to provide teaching that ensures every child achieves academic success and has the opportunity to develop their personal qualities and talents. We believe that children are entitled to work in surroundings that reflect our values and ethos.

All staff, teaching and non-teaching, continually strive to create a supportive, calm and orderly school that both looks and feels welcoming. We do our very best to meet each child's individual needs, which will vary throughout their school career. Some children may have learning difficulties or lack confidence or have problems establishing friendships. Others may have particular talents which need fostering and encouraging.

We try to recognise every child's individuality and organise our curriculum and planning accordingly. Our society is increasingly multicultural and multiracial and we actively promote a respect for, and tolerance of, such diversity. We expect parents to support this aspect of school life. In order to become responsible well adjusted adults, children must learn to have regard for the feelings of others. Good manners, courtesy and self-discipline are, as they have always been, essential attributes which we will promote at all times.

We know that parents want the very best for their children and that is what we aim to provide. This can be achieved by staff working together with parents. We hope our relationship with parents will be close and co-operative so that minor concerns are dealt with before they develop into major problems. Teachers are always available at the end of the day to see parents, as necessary, and they are usually the person best placed to deal with immediate issues or concerns. Alternatively, I will always see parents at the earliest mutually convenient time if the matter is more serious.
